"Not many, if any" says Scribe
But what does high performance even mean? And how do you know if you are a high performance team? Can it even be measured?
These are the questions we have been rattling around with for the past two years as we develop our work place teams concept at Chemcare. These teams are definitely making a difference to the performance of Chemcare but I have been craving a metric. A score card. It’s been a constant thorn in my side.
So when I heard Tim Kastelle speak at an event in Wellington a few months back I literally couldn’t wait to connect with him after his presentation.
Why? Because he had just uncovered the mythical, and made sense of how to lift performance in an organisation. Not only that, he and his colleague, Nilofer Merchant, had worked out the key indicators that predict the behaviours of lifting performance, and the adaptability of an organisation.
The number one thing needed apparently to lift performance is Collaboration! Yes I thought, that rings true.
So if it was that clear and easy, then why are we in a performance and productivity stagnation hole in New Zealand?
Because 80% of the behaviours needed to lift collaboration are intangible and so many of the metrics we use today suck at showing us what actually matters.
Enter Intangible Labs.
This is the creation of Tim Kastelle and Nilofer Merchant who Collective Intelligence are very proud to be partnering with to help organisations across the country and beyond ‘Do their best work’. We absolutely love the fact that lifting performance in this way also means creating places that are awesome to work in.
With the development of our ‘Work Place Teams’ which curate Collectively Intelligent teams within an organisation, combined with a system to actually measure the lead indicators, we will be able to effectively lift performance in organisations.
We believe from the research Intangible Labs has undertaken, this could be in the order of 37% or more.
If that doesn’t rattle your cage - go back to sleep.
